Customer directive

Our customer required a powered cart assembly to safely load and unload large honeycomb composite components while maintaining precise product positioning throughout the drying cycle. Due to the product’s small internal passages, the system was engineered to deliver controlled vertical airflow for uniform temperature distribution and repeatable drying performance. The process also required rapid heating followed by an accelerated cooling cycle to meet production requirements.

Description

DTI-1487D utilizes a vertical up-flow air distribution system specifically designed to compensate for the pressure drop created by honeycomb composite materials. The powered product cart provides stable support while allowing unrestricted process airflow through the product. An adjustable product support framework accommodates multiple panel sizes while maintaining consistent product geometry throughout the drying process. This flexibility allows the same system to process a wide range of product sizes without requiring dedicated tooling.

The free-standing track system installs directly onto an existing plant floor without requiring special foundations. The PLC-based control system manages cart movement, ramp-and-soak temperature profiles, burner operation, accelerated cooling, and system sequencing through an operator HMI. A paperless chart recorder provides electronic process documentation, and the complete system is factory assembled and tested prior to shipment.
